Unauthorized GoFundMe Pages Created for Library Organizations
GoFundMe has created over one million fundraising pages using publicly available IRS records without obtaining permission from or informing the affected organizations.
The Maryland Library Association found an unauthorized page created in our name, and we are working to remove it.
If you want to donate to the Maryland Library Association, please only give through our official website at mdlib.org/donate or mail a check to our office. We have not approved any other third-party fundraising pages.
We encourage all Maryland libraries, Friends groups, and library nonprofits to check if GoFundMe made an unauthorized page for you. Visit the Nonprofit News Feed website for instructions on how you can check for and request removal of these unwanted pages.
