Supporting California Wildfire Victims
The American Library Association’s Disaster Relief Fund provides funds to libraries in the U.S. and around the world that have been damaged or destroyed due to natural or human-caused disasters.
The Maryland Library Association (MLA) stands in solidarity with the victims of the devastating wildfires that have recently swept through California. As we watch the heartbreaking images and hear the stories of resilience from California, we are reminded of the power of community and the importance of standing together.
California’s recent wildfires have left a trail of destruction, displacing families, destroying homes, and severely impacting local infrastructure—including libraries. In response, the ALA is working to channel resources where they are needed most, providing financial assistance and other forms of aid to libraries and their staff as they navigate the challenges of recovery.
The ALA’s Disaster Relief Fund ensures that affected libraries can rebuild and resume their critical services. Contributions to the fund directly support libraries and their communities in crisis.
