Children's Services Supervisor
This professional management role is based at the Walkersville Branch Library and is responsible for leading the Children’s Department in a welcoming, imaginative, and dynamic environment. The position ensures that children, their families, and caregivers experience the joy of reading through engaging programs and creative services. It involves supervising both professional and paraprofessional Children’s Services staff, while reporting directly to the Branch Administrator.
NOTE: Please note that the upper pay range reflected in the job posting reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The qualifications/requirements, knowledge/skills/abilities and physical requirements or working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Bachelor's degree in library science, early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field
- 3 years of professional or para-professional library work experience that includes 2 years in children’s services
- 1 year of experience supervising or managing staff
Substitutions for the above-listed required education and experience is a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an American Library Association accredited program with a Professional Public Librarian certification from the Maryland State Department of Education or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire with an MLS degree and 1 year experience in children’s services. Additional required or preferred qualifications may apply based on operational needs, as approved by Human Resources.
