The Collection Strategies Director performs advanced and highly responsible professional work leading the library system’s collection development program. This work includes:
- Providing strategic direction for acquisitions and technical services
- Overseeing the selection, acquisition, cataloging, and processing of traditional and emerging library materials
- Mentoring and developing professional librarians and administrative staff, building expertise, leadership
capacity, and consistent best practices throughout the library - Providing leadership to system-level teams and consultative processes shaping collection policies and
operating procedures - Managing vendor relations to support effective materials delivery
- Developing system-wide guidelines for collection development and weeding, enabling branch staff
to maintain collections that are current, relevant, and customer-focused - Developing the library materials budget, overseeing expenditures, analyzing usage patterns, and guiding data informed decisions to maximize the impact of library resources
