Montgomery County Public Libraries is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Regional Manager within Library Administration. This Manager III position will supervise Branch Supervisors at multiple branch locations and perform other administrative work in the areas of branch operations and customer service management.

This position will take responsibility for some of the administrative duties currently being performed by the department’s Manager II Assistant Directors, including solving day to day operational challenges in the branches, administering branch workplans, and evaluating and improving upon customer service delivery.

  • Works with onsite supervisory teams to ensure branch staff is scheduled in a manner that results in a high level of customer service.
  • Works with onsite supervisory teams to ensure branch staff is fully trained for positions
  • Works with onsite supervisory teams to ensure Performance Management procedures are followed and timelines are met
  • Ensures branch facilities are in good working order and facilities issues are resolved efficiently and effectively
  • Addresses security issues at assigned branches as they arise
  • Responds to and resolves customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Works with Human Resource Manager and subordinate supervisors on disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, accommodations, FMLA, and the grievance process at assigned branches 
  • Oversees daily operations and planning for the needs of the area
  • Works with cohort of MCPL Regional Library managers to develop and implement modern library customer service model and branch customer service plans
  • Responsible for Inclement Weather planning and staffing and managing the operational aspects of liberal leave/inclement weather days
  • Uses MCPL circles of support as a framework to evaluate and modify staffing across branches within regional service area
  • Serves as primary point of contact on rotating basis to assist onsite Persons in Charge with matters that may arise across the system during library operating hours
  • Responsible for establishing, updating, and maintaining Policies & Procedures pertinent to branch operations
  • Ensures branch volunteer program adheres to all policies & procedures of County and department
  • Engages teams in documenting, evaluating, and improving upon the many work processes in the branches and creates systemwide standard operating procedures (SOPs) from this effort.
